Hello,
This is one of my first threads over here at BimmerBoost. I had been visiting e90post but I have been frequenting this forum more and more. I hope you all find this of value.
I would like to post my review of the Markert Motor Works solution for a proper clutch type limited slip differential for the E9X cars and E8X 135 cars.
I have previously driven many applications outfitted with the other gear type differentials and I was never close to satisfied. It just didnt feel like the earlier BMWs I know and love. Afterall, it was the E30s and E36s that got me into this rodeo. I was thinking, why cant my e90 have a similar feel? I thought it was because it was a turbo car, and that I needed a V10 to solve my woes. The lock up was never smooth coming out of corners or a nice slip angle, and they were always seemingly very noisy compared to a proper clutch type diff.
Boy was I wrong about turbo vs NA! Friday came around and I knew I would be having my new differential assembly installed that evening. I was very excited. Low and behold, I had a friend drop by with an identical car to mine (2010 LCI sedan, alpine on black 6 speed). He has a wavetrac in his car so I drove it so that I would have a comparison. After the test drive, and I mean test drive ;) I brought the car back and I still was not that thrilled. It was making me nervous about my car and how it would feel after the diff swap.
Come 6 o'clock, I get my car back with the new differential installed. I pulled out of the parking lot, and I immediately screamed "I love my car again!!!" (while completely sideways coming out of it smoothly and precisely as a professional driver). I immediately thought, "now no longer need the S85" (although the want is still there). I could not believe the transformation. It was incredible! :happyanim:
I then began to call everyone I know with a later model BMW to tell them the news. This thing is BRILLIANT! You MUST get one! So far I have two other buddies get them (both members so I am sure they will chime in). One in a 335i and one in a 135i. Both FBO.

But all shenanigans aside (even when not driving like a hoon) you can notice the traction control not having to work as hard. Launches from a stop are now much smoother and thus quicker out of the hole. Exiting corners is the biggest plus, since the lock up is progressive versus On/Off, it is extremely smooth. No more of that craziness coming out of turns (which in my opinion was extremely dangerous).

Make sure you all check these things out! Talk to yall soon
